Job Summary

Employees in this position are responsible for general grass and weed maintenance with a variety of lawn care equipment used for cutting and trimming various areas within Phenix City. Employees in this position will also assist in the removal of trash/litter along roadways, in City owned cemeteries and city parks and around recreational centers. Additional duties assigned in support to the department.

Experience
Prior lawn care experience.

Licenses or Certifications Required
Valid Photo Identification

The following generally describes the knowledge and abilities required in order to successfully perform the assigned duties of the position:

Knowledge of:

  • Operate lawn mowers, weed eaters and blowers.
  • General maintenance on equipment to keep operable.

Ability to:

  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Verbally communicate in order to converse with supervisors and co-workers regarding work related activities.
  • Count, add and subtract whole numbers.
  • Comprehend written or oral instructions.
  • Follow instructions and efficiently complete tasks.
  • Exercise judgment particularly in tasks involving safety of self and others.
  • Work under immediate supervision and carry out assigned tasks.
