Job Title: Event/Concessions Assistant
Department: Parks & Recreation

Job Summary
Responsible for the daily duties of the concession stands, including but not limited to: training and scheduling concessionaires, food preparation, customer service, cash handling, inventory control, merchandise & supply restocking and facility upkeep.
Assist Entertainment Coordinator with planning, promotion, supervision and implementation of events.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required, assigned and expected aside from those set forth below to address operational needs and changing operational practices.
- Oversee operation of all concession stands, to include product selection and pricing.
- Be prepared to work concession stands as needed to fill in gaps.
- Oversee sanitation of each concessions facility.
- Work with Athletic Coordinator to ensure that staff follows safety guidelines set by the City.
- Place inventory orders and fill them appropriately, to include taking in weekly deliveries and stocking each concession stand appropriately.
- Work with Entertainment Coordinator to execute plans for events, set up of events and supervision of staff and volunteers.
- Assist in promotion of events by distributing flyers, hanging signs and brainstorming social media and advertising strategy.
- Aid with implementation of all ideas. Be prepared to work in any capacity needed to fill in gaps.Perform accurate profit/loss analyses for each concession stand.
- Maintain and/or develop appropriate inventory control procedures for each facility.
- Keep up with event attendance records and work with Entertainment Coordinator to prepare profit/loss reports for events.
- Make necessary inventory and procedural adjustments according to profit/loss analyses.
- Help develop or maintain departmental balance between service and profitability.
- Work closely with department head and supervisors to help develop a singular departmental vision. Work with Athletic Coordinator to schedule all concessions workers, as well as to train and supervise all concessions employees.
- Work with Entertainment Coordinator to plan appropriate concessions and beverage stock for each event, as well as make procedural suggestions and adjustments for each event.
- Maintain strong communication with Athletic Coordinator and Entertainment Coordinator.
- Stay abreast of all departmental activities and be prepared to service each activity appropriately.
- Must be prepared to attend departmental meetings in order to make recommendations for improvements.
- Aid in all assigned departmental activities, to include facility management and administration. Comprehensively aid in departmental quality control.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned or upon request.
Qualifications
Education & Experience Guidelines
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be:
Education/Training
Must have high school education or GED. Preferred Associates Degree
Experience
Business, restaurant, or events management experience
Licenses or Certifications Required
Valid Driver’s License from State of Residence.

- Read in order to comprehend operator and reference manuals.
- Write in order to prepare non-complex forms and records.
- Verbally communicate in order to converse with supervisors and co-workers regarding work-related activities.
- Calculate correct change and keep up with inventory, as well as develop profit vs. loss reports related to concessions sales as well as event attendance.
- Decipher sales trends in concession stands and make appropriate inventory adjustments.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
