Beginning Friday, May 1, 2020, the City of Phenix City will be reopening Lakewood Golf Course to the public. Under the guidance of the Statewide Public Health Order (Safer-at-Home Order) amended by Governor Ivey on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, as well as recommendations provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the golf course will be reopening using the following safety procedures until further notice:
- Snack bar closed to walk-in traffic
- Limit of two (2) customers in the golf shop at a time
- Office pens and cart keys sanitized after each use
- Hand sanitizing stations located at and around the golf shop
- One rider allowed per golf cart
- Golf carts sanitized after each use
- Golf cart coolers sanitized after each use
- No water coolers placed on the course
- No ball washers on the course
- No sand trap rakes on the course
- Restrictors in the cups
- Signs posted to not to remove the flag sticks during play
- Signs posted to mark social distancing of 6 feet at tees and greens
Normal hours of operation will resume upon reopening: Daily, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., EDT.
As a reminder, all city playgrounds, pavilions, athletic facilities, and recreation centers continue to remain closed, and city walking tracks and nature trails continue to be open for the use of walking and jogging only between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. EDT, daily.
