Beverages & Etiquette
- No personal coolers will be allowed at Lakewood Golf Course.
- Alabama State Law prohibits outside alcoholic beverages from being carried onto the premises.
- Coolers are available in the golf shop for beverages purchased in our grill.
- Proper golf etiquette and decorum is expected from our patrons for the enjoyment of everyone.
Golf Policies
- The USGA Rules of golf will govern play except where modified by local rules.
- Playing groups will be composed of not more than four players, unless approved by the golf shop staff.
- Groups of four shall have priority. Golfers are expected to maintain pace of play.
- Walking is permitted, however pace of play must be maintained. Walking will not be allowed until after 2 p.m. on weekends and holidays – unless approved by the Golf Shop staff.
- If any group fails to keep pace on the course and loses more than one clear hole in front of them, they should allow the waiting group to play through.
- Practice should be confined to designated areas, practice range, practice putting and chipping greens.
- Golf carts should be parked in designated areas when using the practice area.
- Players will have their own golf bags and clubs.
- Players should repair ball marks.
- No play should start on #10 without the consent of the golf shop.
- Players stopping at the turn after #9 (more than 5 minutes) will lose their position on #10 tee.
Golf Cart Policies
- Golf carts shall not be used without proper assignment and/or registration.
- When turf conditions permit, please use the modified ninety-degree rule.
- Golf cart operators must be 18 years of age and have a valid motor vehicle license.
- A maximum of two occupants and two sets of clubs are permitted per golf cart.
- Operation of golf cart is at the risk of the operator. Damages must be reported to the golf shop immediately upon completion of play.
- Keep carts on paths around greens and teeing areas.
- Carts must stay on paths on all par 3’s.
- Horseplay will not be tolerated at any time for risk of personal injury and damage to city property.
Golf Attire Policies
It is required that dress will be in accordance with the surroundings and atmosphere of Lakewood Golf Course:
- Men – slacks, jeans, appropriate length golf shorts and shirts with sleeves and collars are considered proper dress. Tank-tops, fishnet tops, short-shorts, cut-offs, jams, sweats, etc. should not be worn.
- Women – dresses, skirts, slacks, jeans, golf shirts, and appropriate length golf shorts are considered proper dress. Halter tops, tank-tops, bathing suits, sweat pants, etc. should not be worn.
- Shoes – appropriate golf shoes or approved shoes are required on the golf course and practice areas. Please no metal spikes or cleats of any kind.

Severe Weather Alert Warning
Lightning is a very real concern. Storms can form quickly and lightning can and will cause death. Rain checks will be issued for holes not played. No groups will be allowed to start play if dangerous conditions exist.
